Rä Di Martino
Born in Rome in 1975, she lives and works in Turin.
She participated to the 15th Premio Cairo, in 2014.
Rä di Martino is an investigation of testimony that adopts indirect methods. In an age when the line between reality and fiction is increasingly blurred, mixing concrete elements and surreal cues can be one of the most effective methods to describe society. With photographs and videos, the artist shines a spotlight on disturbing places in the collective imagination. For example, the abandoned film sets of North Africa or the popular department stores in Rome, thus searching for a point of intersection between official history, territories of the imaginary and real everyday stories. Always with a hitherto surreal style.
