Marco Eusepi
24° Premio Cairo
Painting first and foremost. Instinctive, gestural, dynamic. Just like life and nature, at the heart of the works of Marco Eusepi (Anzio, 1991, lives and works in Rome) who, in an age in which digital technology is increasingly widespread, remains faithful to the language of painting. After studying painting and graphic art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, he was one of the driving forces behind Spaziomensa, an artist-run space opened in Rome in 2020. In his works, which straddle the line between abstraction and figuration, the artist reveals echoes of a master such as Giorgio Morandi and, more generally, of artists who, he explains, ‘work with pictorial material in a dialectical manner’. Nature is always the protagonist, but in relation to man, whose transience it reflects.
This is evident in the works he exhibited, for example, in the exhibitions Gardens at Palazzo Trigona in Noto in 2022, and Fioriture at Litografia Bulla in Rome in 2023, poetic reflections in which pictorial material is central.
