Maria Elisa Ferraris

Maria Elisa Ferraris (Turin, 1995) expresses her artistic vision through photography, primarily in black and white. By exploring how landscape, the body, and memory take shape and intertwine seamlessly, she creates images suspended between material reality and lyrical abstraction, imbued with symbolic intensity. Stone, natural surfaces, and above all water—portrayed in majestic compositions—retain in her photographs a firm anchor to the physical world while revealing traces of a timeless elsewhere. The medium of photography acts as a tool for excavation and invites the viewer to engage in an exercise in silence

and attention: a challenge to grasp what, while eluding the gaze, remains deep within inner truth. A similar approach guides her works dedicated to the body and illness, as well as her exploration of inhabited spaces, marked by the contradictions of geopolitical dynamics and migratory flows. A graduate in Photography from the IED in Turin, where she lives and works, Ferraris has exhibited in Italy, Spain, and Germany.
