Camilla Gurgone

After earning a bachelor’s degree in Sculpture from RUFA in Rome and a master’s degree in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies from NABA in Milan, Camilla Gurgone (Lucca, 1997) has developed an artistic approach that spans installations, images, and performances to explore our relationship with the technologies and systems that govern contemporary life.

Algorithms, platforms, and archives increasingly influence our approach to the world; yet, rather than criticizing them, the artist seeks to manipulate them to highlight their limitations, thereby transforming them into imaginative machines open to doubt.

*Oracolo* belongs to a constellation of works created in dialogue with Artificial Intelligence, to which Gurgone posed questions about the future of humanity. The chatbot then generated scenarios and hypotheses that were subsequently transformed into ambiguous images open to interpretation. AI, no longer something the user passively endures, thus becomes a welcome extension of imagination and thought.
