Guendalina Cerruti
24° Premio Cairo
Using the shells of decorative objects, pieces of furniture, toys, photographs, and various materials, Guendalina Cerruti creates pop miniatures of merry-go-rounds, Ferris wheels, ice cream carts, theaters, and luminous bouquets. She also creates self-portraits drawn on mannequin silhouettes, patchwork fashionable T-shirts, canvases and prints chiseled from metal structures decorated with colored pearls, papier-mâché cabinets in the shape of dogs with photographic images of their snouts imprisoned in flat plates.Multi-material combinations, fragments of information, intimate finds, decorative objects that reflect and at the same time subvert the alienating conformism of current trends.
Born in Milan in 1992, Cerruti studied at the New Academy of Fine Arts in Milan and then specialized at the Royal College of Art in London. She has exhibited in Milan, Bologna, London, and Los Angeles.
